Art Project Fundraiser 30/06/2011
On 30th June 2011, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the David Baum International Foundation held a fundraising event in support of DBIF projects.
Hosted at the RCPCH, we were pleased to exhibit a selection of photographs by artists Angela Baum and Annette Chevalier, taken during trips to Tanzania 2005-2007 when Angela and Annette worked with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and children at Msandaka School for the Deaf.
DBIF were also pleased to award the inaugural David Baum Prize to an outstanding young paediatrician from a low-income country. Dr. Bill Kigathi, from Nairobi, Kenya, visited London for 5 days to accept the prize and give a short presentation on the ETAT+ project in Kenya. We were delighted to welcome Dr. Kigathi to London and the RCPCH. A further presentation on ETAT+ work was given by Dr Charlotte Durand, a former RCPCH/VSO Fellow, who was involved in implementing the project during her placement.
Lastly, the event saw the launch of the newly dedicated website for DBIF which features regular project updates, events and DBIF information. It is hoped that this new website will improve communications with our sponsors, affiliates and general public about the impact of DBIF around the world.
This event was kindly sponsored by The Tedworth Charitable Trust
