Diploma in Palestinian Child Health

Writing in 1998, Professor David Baum stated, “I believe the collaborative advancement of the healthcare of Palestinian children […] offers a bridge of peace in the Middle East: self-determination and self-sufficiency in health care being the pre-requisites for harmonious collaboration.'

In response to David’s vision and over the last ten years, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) with support from DBIF has been training health professionals in the West Bank. This training programme has subsequently become the College recognised Diploma in Palestinian Child Health. The curriculum covers the whole field of child health from acute illness to mental health and from clinical skills to disability.

The training is undertaken by a combination of RCPCH paediatricians and local doctors and nurses. Provision of this course has only been possible due to the funding made available by the College and the David Baum International Foundation.
