Save a Child's Heart
Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project whose mission is to improve the quality of paediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease and to create centres of competence in these countries. SACH has repaired the hearts of more than 2,500 children in cooperation with the Wolfson Medical Center, Holon, Israel and provides a full outreach training program for medical personnel from developing countries in Israel.
In 2010, DBIF provided $50,000 to facilitate the training of three Palestinian doctors from Rafidia Children's Hospital in Nablus in paediatric cardiology, paediatric intensive care and neonatology. These are specific areas of paediatric healthcare that currently do not exist in Nablus and the Northern West Bank.
The doctors have been recruited and commenced their training. Following the completion of the 12 month programme they will return to the Palestinian Authority to apply the knowledge acquired. The programme will also enhance professional relations between Israeli and Palestinian physicians and contribute to further collaborations in paediatric education.
