Evidence-based Medicine in India

Operating over a six year period, this project involved collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics to train Indian clinicians in evidence-based healthcare. In total four introductory courses and two training the trainer courses were held in different centres across India. Tutors for the course involved a combination of College paediatricians and local Indian doctors.

Commenting on the success of the programme, Dr Ruth Gilbert said, “After 6 years working in India, we have seen a growth in the number of clinicians able to run EBM [evidence based medicine] teaching sessions and in their enthusiasm to do so. […] There is also now a network of enthusiastic, committed paediatricians who are already experienced teachers and who are in a position to use EBM as part of their teaching at all levels.
